Young designers, established artists, technology and research: in Zona Tortona between exhibitions and installations there’s no shortage of amazement. Here’s what you won’t want to miss

Affinity in Autonomy exhibition at Spazio Zegna, at Via Savona 56: the automata for Sony‘s artificial intelligence research will literally leave you speechless.

Paramount, for those who want to dive rather than gradually wade in to the frenzy of the Fuorisalone, are the two main locations both on Via Tortona: Opificio 31, a former industrial site, is truly a little design-themed city, starting with the Archiproducts building, an imposing collection of some of the most interesting interior design brands. But, wandering through the alleys of the immense exhibition space, you can also happen across decidedly less conventional exhibitions, such as the Belgium is Design pavilion, dedicated to the modular wooden creations of young designers from in and around Brussels, or Alex Chinneck’s giant installations/zippers for IQOS.

To help you recover, or simply catch your breath, nothing is better than a stroll through the fresh flower field designed by Nendo for Daikin (Via Vigevano 18) or a bit of healthy shopping among Bruno Munari’s ingenious creations, reissued and exhibited by Corraini, at Via Savona 17.

A little further on, going back up the street, at number 27 you reach Superstudio Più where you absolutely cannot, at the cost of a few minutes of waiting, miss Lexus‘ dance and light performance. There’s no shortage of light tricks at Mudec (Via Tortona 56), where the launch of the new Alessi moka designed by David Chipperfield is an opportunity to admire the splendid similarly-themed zoetrope made by the filmmaker Virgilio Villoresi.
